Jacqui Felgate is an award-winning journalist with over 15 years’ experience in broadcast and print journalism.
Jacqui joined the 7NEWS Melbourne team in February 2012. She anchor’s the local Afternoon News and reports nightly at 6pm with Peter Mitchell. Jacqui is also passionate about sport and is a valued member of the 7SPORT team, covering the AFL and AFLW. She was the first female to co-host the Brownlow Medal Count alongside Hamish McLachlan in 2020 and 2021, and she has also worked on major international events including Wimbledon and more recently the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Awarded two Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards, Jacqui has covered numerous state and federal elections and reported on major events around the world. She covered the Black Saturday bushfires, Queensland floods and the Melbourne COVID crisis.
Jacqui is most proud of her news breaking efforts which forced the state government to change the law to make it illegal to consume alcohol while behind the wheel in Victoria, bringing the state into line with the rest of Australia.
As a prominent figure in Melbourne media, Jacqui is an advocate for supporting young female journalists.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and two daughters. On the weekend you can find her watching her beloved Geelong Cats at the MCG, horse riding and keeping Melbourne updated on Instagram.
