The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is the Government Partner of UN Women Australia’s International Women’s Day campaign. International Women’s Day, held on 8 March each year, is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women around the world. It is also a time to reflect on the significant challenges that remain in realising equality between men and women across the world.

UN Women Australia has worked closely with the DFAT for over a decade to deliver a successful suite of International Women’s Day events. Australia remains a firm and persistent advocate and practical supporter of gender equality through its international development assistance program.
