Alvina Lillie Soaki Erekali

Country Programme Coordinator, UN Women Solomon Islands

Alvina serves as the Country Programme Coordinator for UN Women Solomon Islands Field Office since July 2010. Alvina has devoted her career advocating for the advancement of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Prior to this, Alvina worked as the General Secretary of Solomon Islands Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) for 4 years (2003 – 2007) promoting young women’s empowerment and leadership.

Alvina started her career in Food science working as Quality Assurance Officer in one of the Food industries, Goodman Fielders from 1998 to 1999. In 2000, she joined Ministry of National Planning and Development under UNDP Project as a Principal Social Planner/Monitoring working on  3 years project that focused on the impact of ethnic tension on vulnerable people mainly women, children, elderly and people with disabilities.

She holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Post-Graduate Diploma Business Administration from the University of South Pacific. She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Food Technology from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Alvina is a Solomon Islands citizen. She is married with four children and one grandchild.
