Safe. Everywhere. Always. 2023

In 2023, UN Women Australia launched our inaugural Safe. Everywhere. Always. campaign as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This campaign aimed to raise awareness, inspire action, and highlight the crucial work of organisations working to combat violence against women and girls globally.

A key activity was the Safe. Everywhere. Always. Walk, where 847 dedicated participants walked 30, 60, or 100 km over the 16 Days, raising $82,427 for UN Women’s programs working to end gender-based violence.

UN Women Australia CEO, Simone Clarke joined eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman Grant for a special online event - From Dystopia to Deepfakes.

The campaign also featured a UNiTE event with the Rotary Club of Sydney and Armatec Global, bringing together leaders and advocates to discuss solutions to gender-based violence, and the ‘From Dystopia to Deepfakes’ online event with the eSafety Commissioner, which explored technology’s impact on women’s safety. Additionally, our Safe. Everywhere. Always. campaign included a live Instagram session on the role men play in creating safer spaces for women and another on consent, empathy and respect. The Sydney City Police and Rotary event marking Domestic and Family Violence Awareness Day further raised public awareness of this critical issue.

Skate 30

Many thanks go to Better Bearings for hosting the Skate 30 fundraising challenge. This month-long challenge encouraged participants to skate for 30 minutes a day and raise funds for the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. Over $2,500 was raised, with thanks to the generosity of all who took part in this meaningful effort.
