UN Women Australia is delighted to announce that internationally renowned scientist, conservationist, and human rights activist Dr Jane Goodall will feature via virtual presentation in an exclusive in-depth interview at International Women’s Day events nationally on Friday 4 March 2022.
Through nearly 60 years of ground-breaking work, Dr Goodall has broken down barriers for women working across science, redefined traditional conservation and become a role model for countless young people to take action in their own communities through her Roots & Shoots youth program.
UN Women Australia CEO, Simone Clarke, said: “Dr Goodall will share compelling insights into her remarkable life and achievements as a pioneering scientist, conservation advocate, and leader, a woman who is truly representative of the United Nations global theme for International Women’s Day – Changing Climates: Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.
“Dr Goodall has been a life-long, staunch advocate for a sustainable future – a women whose career and achievements embodies the essence of everything we celebrate on International Women’s Day and reminds us at the same time of what is still yet to be done,” said Ms Clarke.
“This year is an opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the contribution of women and girls around the world, women who are working to change the climate of gender equality and ensure a sustainable future.
“We are excited to bring this very special presentation to Australia, to celebrate International Women’s Day across five simultaneous events, and via our UN Women Australia live streamed digital hub, which can be enjoyed from anywhere in the world.”
Dr Goodall will be interviewed by Linh Do, a sustainability activist and leader in her own right, who has spent the last decade working across advocacy and engagement, media and social enterprise. She is the Director of Leaders for Global Sustainability at the University of Melbourne. Prior to this, she was the Australia and Pacific lead for Climate Reality, Al Gore’s leadership program.
In the past decade, Ms Do has worked on energy efficiency with the United Nations Environment Programme, international policy communication around the Paris Agreement with Climate Action Network (CAN) International and The Verb, and on community organising at the Australian Conservation Foundation. Linh has been recognised as Australian Geographic’s Young Conservationist of the Year.
