The global backlash against women’s rights has reached extreme levels in some countries. Women’s basic human rights are under threat and gender disparities are worsening. In parts of the world, some women do not have the right to bodily autonomy, are not allowed to be seen or heard in public spaces, are denied the right to education, are being pushed back into submissive gender roles, and subjected to gender-based violence. We’ve witnessed a rise in hate-speech, racism, misogyny, prejudice, division and a lack of compassion. Wars and conflicts are being waged all over the world, leading to record numbers of people who have been forcibly displaced.

The March Forward campaign is a global campaign lead by the 13 National Committees of UN Women. Its goal is to put gender equality at the centre of our conversations, push back against the ongoing backlash and demand accountability from world leaders, policymakers and stakeholders. Achieving gender parity takes all of us.
