Safe Buses for Women in PNG
Help us get safe buses rolling again in PNG
In Papua New Guinea (PNG), over 90% of women have endured violence in some form—an overwhelming and heartbreaking reality that reflects a deep and urgent crisis. For many women and girls, the simple act of traveling—whether to school, work, or to access basic services—becomes a daily risk, shadowed by fear and vulnerability.
The Meri Safe Bus program was a lifeline. It provided safe, women- and children-only transport, helping thousands reach their destinations without fear. Over four years, it delivered more than 200,000 safe journeys—giving women the freedom to work and children the chance to stay in school.
Due to lack of funding, the Meri Safe buses are no longer running, but women shouldn’t have to choose between safety and opportunity.
With your help, we can bring the Meri Safe Bus back. Your donation can get these buses rolling again—restoring safety, dignity, and hope for thousands of women and children across PNG.
After donating you will have the opportunity to leave a personal message that will be displayed inside the bus to inspire and uplift every passenger on their safe journey.
Please give what you can today.
Donations over $5 are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible in Australia.
