COVID-19 India Emergency Appeal
The COVID-19 crisis in India has reached catastrophic levels.
As the country crosses the threshold of 400,000 contaminations a day, the health system is on the brink of collapse, hospitals are overloaded and the death rate continues to rise.
We urgently ask for your help as the situation becomes increasingly desperate.
Women and girls, especially from poor and marginalised communities, are facing increased burden. They need urgent access to basic needs such as food, PPE, hand sanitiser and soap; access to information about available health services; and access to vaccines.
UN Women is working closely with partners on the ground to manufacture protective equipment and provide access to hand sanitisers and medical supplies, while also educating women and their families about COVID-19 to prevent the spread of misinformation.
In addition to this, UN Women is working to keep essential protective facilities open for women affected by violence, which increases dramatically during times of crisis.
Please give now and help protect our sisters in India.
