Safe. Everywhere. Always. 2025
Safe. Everywhere. Always. is UN Women Australia’s campaign for the UN’s 16 Days of Activism, running from 25 November (International Day to End Violence Against Women and Girls) to 10 December (Human Rights Day). It brings national attention to the urgent need to end violence against women and girls in every space — at home, at work, in public and online. The campaign combined fundraising, advocacy, media and storytelling to raise awareness of the drivers and impacts of violence, while calling for the cultural, legal and systems change needed to create safer futures for women and girls.
A major focus of the campaign is the Safe. Everywhere. Always. Challenge, which mobilises supporters across Australia and beyond. In 2025, 1,323 participants took part, raising $178,073 in support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and Girls and demonstrating the strength of community commitment to ending violence.
The campaign then used that momentum to drive advocacy and public conversation through the Safe. Everywhere. Always. advocacy panel, which brought together leading advocates and academics to foster a national discussion on women’s safety, with a particular focus on lived experience, digital harassment and violence, and the importance of male allyship. The panel helped elevate conversations about the intersecting drivers of violence, the role of men and healthy masculinity, and the need for gender-responsive legal and systems reform. Coverage of the panel launch was picked up by AAP and syndicated across 89 publications, including reach into US and UK media.
Campaign communications achieved strong visibility across traditional, owned and earned media, with a total reach of 55 million people. The #SafeEverywhereAlways hashtag generated 899,000 in earned social reach, while owned content reached 689,309 people. Out-of-home and radio promotion also extended the campaign’s reach, including 13.9 million reached through JCDecaux advertising and 2.545 million through ARN radio spots.
I chose to participate in the walk to end Violence against women because I’m a loud and proud survivor. I choose to walk and use my voice to champion the voices of woman all around the world because we deserve to feel safe. I’m grateful I am able to witness the beauty of the world united with other like minded individuals as we stand together to end violence against women.
– Gemma, Victoria
UN Women Australia amplified the campaign through partnerships with SG Fleet, the Property Council of Australia, and VIK media partners, helping extend visibility through national media and public advertising.
Together, these efforts reinforced UN Women Australia’s leadership in advocating for women’s safety and ending violence against women and girls, while turning public attention and supporter energy into measurable advocacy impact and fundraising support.
