    UN Women National Committee (NC) Australia hosts Australia’s largest International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations in March each year. IWD is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women. It is also a day to review how far women have come in their struggle for equality, peace and development.

    IWD also provides an opportunity to unite, network and mobilise funds to foster meaningful change into the future.

    Please arrive at the Bellevue Ballroom 1 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 6:30am, for a 7:00am sharp start. The event will conclude at 9:00am.

    Upon your arrival, please enter the room and head directly to your table. There is no need to present a ticket. There will be volunteers to assist with directions, if needed.

    If you registered on behalf of others, please let them know your assigned Table number.

    Getting to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre


    City of Perth Convention Centre Car Park is located directly underneath the Centre and is open 24/7. Access is via Mill St, Mounts Bay Rd, or the Riverside Drv off-ramp from the Mitchell Freeway. Payment can be made via cash, credit card, or City of Perth Parking Card.
    There are also approximately 5,000 car parking bays within a 10 minute walk of Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.


    The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is a nominated Cab Spot Location and its number is 1088.

    Public Transport


    Elizabeth Quay train station (located along the Mandurah and Joondalup Railway Line) is located at the doorstep of the centre.


    The Central Area Transit (CAT) system in Perth provide free bus services within the city. A Blue CAT stop is located at the Elizabeth Quay Bus stop (adjacent to Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre).

    Elizabeth Gaines – Chief Executive Officer, Fortescue Metals Group

    Elizabeth Gaines commenced as Chief Executive Officer of Fortescue Metals Group in February 2018.

    A highly experienced business leader with extensive international experience as a Chief Executive Officer and group executive, Elizabeth has a proven track record in financial and operational leadership across a number of industries, including resources, construction and infrastructure, financial services and travel and hospitality.

    After joining Fortescue as a Non-Executive Director in February 2013, Elizabeth was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director in February 2017. She is a former Chief Executive Officer of Helloworld Limited and Heytesbury Pty Limited and has also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Stella Group and Entertainment Rights Plc.

    Elizabeth has significant exposure to the impact of the growth in Asian economies, particularly China, on the Australian business environment and economy as well as a deep understanding of all aspects of financial and commercial management at a senior executive level in both listed and private companies.

    A member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chief Executive Women, Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Master of Applied Finance degree.

    Elizabeth has previously held Non-Executive Director roles with NEXTDC Limited, Mantra Group Limited, Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited and ImpediMed Limited.

    Zara Fisher – Vice President of HSE in Iron Ore, Rio Tinto

    Zara Fisher

    Zara has worked within the mining industry for over 20 years. In her roles Zara has worked in and supported a range of locations both within Australia and internationally. Zara is currently Vice President of HSE in Iron Ore.   Previous roles included General Manager Railway Operations within Rio Tinto Iron Ore in Western Australia; General Manager Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at Kennecott Utah Copper in the USA; Finance and Mining Executive for the Rio Tinto Energy and Minerals Group based in London, UK and before that a range of operational and functional roles in the Aluminium group Australia and New Zealand.   Zara has worked across the functions of operations, maintenance, strategy, services and finance.

    Zara is a non-executive Director of Energy Resources of Australia.  She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Masters of Applied Science (environmental management and restoration).  Prior to Rio Tinto, Zara worked in Chartered accounting.

    Zara grew up in Tasmania and is married with three boys, aged 10, 9 and 6.    She together with husband Owen and children currently live in Perth, WA.
