Join the Australian National Committee for UN Women and Avanade for the Breaking Barriers Webinar on the 1st of December 2015!
Did you know?
- In 2011, the percentage of qualified women employed in STEM fields in Australia was only 28%
- In 2013, women made up just 3.7% of engineering university graduates, 0.8% of computer sciences graduates, and 0.3% of mathematics graduates
- In 2013, around 76% of year 12 girls in Australia studied a mathematics subject but only 6.6% of all female year 12 students studied an advanced level mathematics subject
Together we can change these statistics.
The Australian National Committee for UN Women and Avanade have partnered to create the Breaking Barriers Webinar, which aims to encourage young women, in late high school or university, to pursue careers in STEM fields. The Webinar explores the issue of the vast underrepresentation of women in STEM and highlights the many benefits that would result if this problem was addressed. Through the Webinar, the Australian National Committee and Avanade hope to encourage and nurture young women’s interest in STEM and to provide them with advice and inspiration to assist with the pursuit of a career in one of these diverse and exciting fields.
