There are plenty of ways to support UN Women Australia this International Women’s Day. Please refer to the relevant IWD pages for ideas:
IWD for Community – ideas for individuals and community groups
IWD for Business – ideas, tools and resources for businesses
IWD for Schools – educational resources and fundraising ideas
The International Women’s Day 2023 theme, Cracking the Code: Innovation for a Gender Equal Future, highlights the role that bold, transformative ideas, inclusive technologies and accessible education can play in combatting discrimination and the marginalisation of women globally.
If we are to reach a gender equal future, we must crack the cultural, economic, social codes and behaviours that entrench society.
This IWD, UN Women Australia will explore how innovation, inclusion and education have the power to disrupt “business as usual” and crack the code to a gender equal future.

It is important we remember that International Women’s Day on 8 March has been marked as Global Day of Observance by the United Nations since 1977.
It is a pivotal moment to focus the world’s attention on gender equality and the empowerment of women – to reflect on progress, call for change and to celebrate the courage and determination of those who have changed the face of gender equality.
The UN Women theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) each year is tied to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) – the largest gathering of activists, governments, philanthropic and corporate stakeholders working to advance gender equality.
In recent years there has been confusion over the theme and fundraising efforts for IWD, with the emergence of profit-based entities seeking support for initiatives unrelated to charity or philanthropic efforts for women and girls.
As the Australian chapter of UN Women, we use IWD as a powerful moment to raise funds for the women and girls of the world who need it most. The most effective way for us to accelerate the pace of gender equality globally is to unite in these efforts.
Choose a trusted registered Australian charity this International Women’s Day. Look for this mark when making your donation.

Purchasing Tickets
Please refer to the Program and Ticket Summary for 2023 prices and inclusions. If your question relating to ticket sales is not included here, please email [email protected].
Join the largest movement for gender equality in the world by becoming a member of UN Women Australia and you will gain access to member pricing. Keep in mind it can take up to three business days for your membership to be processed (and tickets and tables are selling fast!) so the best way to guarantee your table or ticket is to book now. Check out our website to become a member of UN Women Australia and gain access to a range of membership benefits.
Standard corporate tables include 10 tickets to the virtual hub. Premium corporate tables include 20 tickets to the virtual hub. In order to claim these tickets, visit the link provided on the confirmation page after you have placed an order for the live event and type in your order number to register your tickets.
This is an opportunity for you to “pay-it-forward” to individuals and organisations who would otherwise not be able to experience our events. Pay-it-forward tickets are designed to make our events more accessible to community groups or small not-for-profit organisations. You can buy individual tickets, a table or a bundle of virtual tickets via the normal booking process on our website. There are a number of individuals and organisations across Australia who support our work and who would benefit hugely from your generosity and this opportunity to attend.
You can either add your name to the waitlist and you will be advised once more tickets become available, or you can buy tickets to the virtual event.
There will be 10 seats per table.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to select your table position or seats this year. Table positions and seats will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Standard and premium corporate tables will have priority seating.
As you would if you were buying tickets to the theatre, we recommend that you buy your tickets as a group to guarantee seats together. If you purchase tickets individually, we will not be able to accommodate any seating requests. All corporate table purchases are prioritised ahead of grouped individual ticket purchases.
Should a live event or allocation of tickets need to be cancelled due to Covid-19 related restrictions, the streamed event will still go ahead. All live ticket holders will be able to transfer to streamed tickets and the cost difference can either be refunded or gifted to UN Women Australia.
Participants may cancel their tickets without penalty up until 30 days prior to the event. Cancellations received within 30 to 14 days before the event will incur a 50% administration fee. Cancellations received less than 14 days before the event will be non-refundable. All cancellations must be made in writing to [email protected]. Please to the terms and conditions for full details.
All tickets are transferable more than 14 days prior to the event. If transferred within 14 days prior to the event, updated names may not be recorded on tickets or seating lists and dietary requirements may not be catered for. Transfers should be made in writing by the registered person to [email protected]. All other details will be assigned to the new person unless otherwise specified.
Ticket sales for the live events will close at 5 pm on Friday 17 February 2023, unless sold out.
Ticket sales for the virtual event will close at 5 pm on Thursday 2 March 2023.
The preferred way to purchase tickets and to secure a table is to book online with a credit card, which guarantees your ticket/table selection immediately. We strongly encourage payment by credit card due to the popularity of the event as tables sell out quickly. Please click here to book online.
Should you wish to pay via EFT and require an invoice, it can be done so by choosing the invoice option at checkout. Note that payment terms for the invoice are strictly 7 days. The invoice does not confirm your table until payment has been made. If payment is not received within the 7-day terms, the table may be returned for sale and the invoice cancelled.
