You Can Stop the Traffic
This Christmas, gifts aren’t the only thing being bought and sold.
In one year alone, nearly 50,000 people became victims of human trafficking around the globe. Of these, 65 per cent were women and girls.[1]
Whether ensnared by force, coercion, or deception, these women have experienced fear no human should ever face.
You can help stop the traffic this Christmas.
Where there is poverty and gender inequality, the risk for exploitation of women and girls is high.
With COVID-19 adding further economic stress to vulnerable families, the deception and coercion tactics used by traffickers provides false hope, and leads to devastating impacts for women and girls.
Human trafficking is a heinous crime that shatters lives, families and dreams.
Your donation can help vulnerable women break the cycle of poverty and significantly decrease their risk of exploitation through skills training.
UN Women is working with local partners across the Asia-Pacific region and around the world to stop exploitation and provide essential support to women who have been or are at risk of human trafficking. Through economic empowerment, awareness raising activities and counselling programs, UN Women is providing women will the skills, knowledge and opportunities they need to earn a decent living, lifting them out of poverty and the clutches of human traffickers.
