Face to Face Fundraising Program is Launched

Thanks to the kind financial support of people like you, UN Women National Committee Australia is proud to have contributed more than $2.5 million in the past ten years to support UN Women’s transformative policy work and programs. Together, we are creating brighter futures for women and girls in PNG, across the Pacific, and around the world. In 2015, UN Women HQ invited UN Women NC Australia’s Board of Directors, in collaboration with the staff team, to revisit our strategy to grow resources for UN Women. To think big. To be bold.

Following a strategic review of options and opportunities, UN Women NC Australia concluded we will pilot a face to face fundraising program in 2016-2017. Face to face fundraising — where individuals are invited to contribute to UN Women through an individual engagement, one to one, in public spaces like city squares or shopping centres — raised more than $100 million for Australian charities in 2014. Face to face fundraising programs have been delivered by our National Committee colleagues for years. Through their face to face fundraising programs in Iceland and Finland, our fellow National Committee colleagues have achieved important gains in advocacy for and awareness of UN Women, and, importantly, have exponentially grown UN Women’s pool of support.

We reviewed options to implement our program, and chose to grow our own team of fundraisers. By hiring, training and supporting our fundraisers, we have the best possible chance to ensure they are knowledgeable about the work of UN Women and that they can be strong ambassadors for UN Women’s work. Our program is launching in Sydney in November 2016. We thank you in advance for joining us, and for your continued support of the work of UN Women and the National Committee here in Australia. We are stronger together: creating lives free from violence, giving women and girls the voice they deserve and the power to dream big, and deliver change they want to see in the world.
